Hi,
You’re coming to SotA this year?! We’re so excited to share space with you this spring - I’m already counting down the days (117 days at the time of this writing!).
As you bop around these tabs, you’ll find some basic information about our upcoming session. If anything comes up that is not covered here, please do not hesitate to reach out. We want to make sure you have everything you need to enter the session with ease.🖤
A bit of context about how our organization works, especially for new folks:
SotA is run entirely by volunteers. Our working Board of Directors is made up of me (Heidi), Nelle, and Alexis. We also have a treasurer, Mara, who will be in touch about tuition if you are a paying student.(and who is a therapist and our on-site mental health support person!). In addition, we are supported by a robust Advisory Committee that helps steer this work and makes our sessions possible. You can learn more about our leadership here.
SotA has been around for almost 10 years (!), and while we have grown over time, we remain a deeply DIY organization. Each year, this work is upheld by all participants and sustained by a small, dedicated team of volunteers. We are actively working to prioritize balance as a team of volunteers, so that we can sustain.
Naming this because transparency in organizations like ours (radical, small, deeply DIY, sustained without major funding, etc) is important! We work to create balance so that we can show up at session as our full selves. We sustain this program because we have seen the giant impact it has had on people, on us. We exist at SotA as participants, this is a space that also nourishes us, hugely, and we do SotA because we need a space like this, too.
Deeply anticipating the joy of being in community with y'all! Thanks for receiving this!
Heidi
