SotA is forever an experiment. Each year, we adapt to best meet the needs of our community and our volunteer organizers. One change this year: we are offering early admissions for paying students. This option is intended for people who are confident they want to attend before the full class list is released, or who need more time to plan than our usual deadlines allow. We encourage applicants to apply early for the best chance of joining our 2026 session.

Early Admission paying student deadline:
January 7th

Scholarship deadline:
February 26th

Final day to apply as a paying student:
March 5th

BLACK EQUITY SCHOLARSHIPS

SotA aims to offer an alternative to the undeniable financial, bodily, psychological, metaphysical, and myriad other effects that white supremacy has. One of the ways SotA actively dismantles systems of oppression is by making this space more accessible to Black students. In stating our commitment, we hold ourselves accountable to build an inclusive and equitable community, where all feel welcome and safe(r) to create, dream, collaborate, discover, and breathe.

The scholarship application includes the full student application โ€“ you do not need to fill out both.

NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships have been built into our budget since our very first year, and we have continued to sustain our scholarship program with our Annual Fundraisers. We know that the financial barrier is prohibitive to many who want to attend SotA, and we are committed to offering scholarships each year.

The scholarship application includes the full student application โ€“ you do not need to fill out both.

tuition:

students will choose one of the following:

$ 575: Community Rate

This is our actual cost. If this is the max you can afford, please select this option!

$$ 775: Justice Rate

This not only covers the break-even cost of your being at SotA ($575), but also contributes to meeting our operational deficits incurred from keeping our tuition as accessible as possible. This rate for folks who are able to pay more helps keep SotA sustainable.

Anyone can apply to attend SotA, as long as you are 18+! At SotA, everyone has the opportunity to hold every role: we all perform work service, faculty and staff attend classes, and as a student, you can teach pop-up classes. Our programming is self-directed: you choose which classes you want to take!
