The SotA care team provides emotional and logistical support to help the community work through problems and questions during our annual spring sessions. Currently, this team is made up of 3 members who run operations work service (smooth operations is care! ), hold daily open hours, as well as manage the nuts and bolts operations and information sharing to ensure the session runs smoothly. Additionally, we have 1 on-site therapist who offers support that is beyond the scope of the other care team members. The work of this team shifts and adapts with each session.
Right now, this work looks like:
Daily Open Hours
A member of the care team holds daily open hours between 11AM-12PM in their rooms. Open hours are a place to offer feedback or receive support. They are a space to talk through anything that would benefit from 1 on 1 conversation with one of our care team members.
On-Site Therapist
Some things are outside the scope of our other care team members. Our on-site Mental Health Support staff member supports participants if things come up that could benefit from the light of a professional therapist’s attention.
Quiet Space
We create a quiet room for folks to take space from the overstimulation of the experience. Radio room at night, quiet room during the day, this space operates with quiet train rules and is a space to be in community, but in a more restful, restorative way.
Anonymous Suggestion Box & Post Session Feedback
This might seem silly, but our suggestion box offers a space for folks who want to share something with our organizers about the session that they prefer to share anonymously. We review these daily as a care team. We also have an online feedback space sent to participants post-session, with the option to fill it out anonymously.
Our Care Team is Interdependent & Collaborative
Our care team checks in with each other daily. Our hope is to enact change when possible in session, and when not immediately possible, we have a digital space where we store all this feedback and integrate what we are able in future sessions. This experience is deeply informed by the collective.
Community Agreement
Our community agreement is a living, breathing document. We encourage community members to work with us to constantly nurture this agreement so it can be representative of all present and future participants. We read it at the top of every session, and offer edit sessions to update this agreement when needed.
