Our Campus

We are overjoyed, overwhelmed, grateful, and beyond to share that we are returning to the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly for this year’s session. This land has held our project since 2016, and due to extensive damage from Hurricane Helene, we weren’t able to gather there last year. We are sitting in immense gratitude for the privilege to return, to drive up that mountain again, to gather on that land that holds this project so well.

Blue Ridge Aseembly is the original campus for Black Mountain College (from 1933 - 1941). We feel so fortunate to be able to have all of the original buildings BMC made famous still in use. Most of our classes will be held in “College Hall”. The campus is beautiful, but scarred from Helene, and will look different to returning folks. The beloved old gym is gone, and the landscape in some areas is altered. Ultimately, though, there has been a huge effort to restore this place, and this beautiful campus is our home - and we can’t wait to welcome you to it.

As participants at SotA, we deeply encourage you to engage with the campus, explore, and hold classes and events all over campus. This year we are going to focus on the lodge as our restful/recharge space during the day, and the space for gas classes that need to be indoors at night. We hope that for our scheduled classes, you will engage the beautiful campus and all it has to offer! It’s a magical place.

We will be sleeping/cooking/cleaning/working out of one of their large lodge style buildings, Weatherford Hall, which has hotel-style bedrooms, a large living space, porch, + a large kitchen and dining area. The Lodge also has plenty of parking available in the front, side and adjoining parking lot. The bedrooms are quiet, which is a great perk in community living!
